SHM Shipcare Malaysia’s Commitment to “Safe Seas, Safe Shores”: Beach Clean-Up at Port Klang

Oil spills, human activities, urbanization, a growing population, and climate change render our oceans vulnerable. The SHM group of companies has dedicated their work and mission to “safe seas, safe shores,” and SHM Shipcare Malaysia proudly continues this legacy.

On a beautiful morning on Friday, June 28th, our team, in collaboration with UniKL and Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang (MBDK), organized a beach clean-up activity at the shores of Tanjung Harapan, Port Klang. Our dedicated volunteers meticulously combed the beach, collecting plastic waste, discarded fishing nets, and other debris that threaten marine life. This initiative underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability and community involvement.

The event also served as an educational opportunity for those who witnessed firsthand the impact of pollution on our beaches and learned the importance of preserving our natural resources. Engaging discussions about sustainable practices highlighted the role each individual can play in protecting our environment, fostering a deeper sense of responsibility among participants.

The clean-up event garnered positive media coverage, with local news outlets highlighting the collaborative efforts of SHM Shipcare Malaysia, UniKL, and MBDK in tackling marine pollution. The coverage emphasized the significance of such initiatives in promoting environmental awareness and community engagement.

This clean-up event is just the beginning. SHM Shipcare Malaysia is committed to ongoing efforts to safeguard our oceans and shorelines, including future clean-up activities and educational programs. By taking this first step towards a cleaner and greener future, we hope to inspire others to join us in our mission to create a legacy of sustainability for generations to come.
